A timelapse video of the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, by photographer Ole C. Salomonsen, from Norway. It was filmed in Norway, Finland and Sweden during 2011 and 2012.

An aurora occurs when a stream of charged particles, usually generated by solar flares from the sun, enter the Earth’s upper atmosphere and interact with atmospheric gasses. The result is a display of “dancing curtains of light”, guided by the Earth’s magnetic field.
